Dexerdry above-joist deck drainage — Saskatoon, Regina, and across the Prairies

Dexerdry (also written Dexer dry, dexerdry, dexerdry deck, dexerdry drainage, dexerdry flange, dexerdry system) is an above-joist deck drainage solution — a patented automotive-grade thermoplastic flange that sits between every deck board and channels water off the deck before it reaches the joists below. The full lineup TUDS stocks: Dexerdry profile for Trex composite (Transcend, Enhance Naturals, Refuge), Dexerdry for Fiberon (GoodLife, Sanctuary), Dexerdry for Deckorators MBC (Vault, Voyage), and Dexerdry for Deckorators WBC (Vista). Available as 240-foot rolls for whole-deck installs and per-linear-foot for repairs. Plus the BlueClaw compression installation tool.

Looking for Dexerdry Saskatoon, Dexerdry Regina, Dexerdry Canada, above-joist deck drainage, dry under deck system Saskatchewan, Dexerdry vs Trex RainEscape, deck drainage at 24-inch on-centre, or Dexerdry installer Prairies? Dexerdry carries a 25-year limited warranty, works with 12-inch, 16-inch, and 24-inch on-centre joist spacing (one of the few above-joist systems that handles 24" O.C.), and is rated -40°F to 375°F for Prairie freeze-thaw cycles. Profile must match the decking brand's groove — order by decking SKU. Trex RainEscape is the alternative below-joist system TUDS stocks for non-matched decking brands like Eva-Last, hardwoods, and pressure-treated.

Dexerdry. Dry deck. Dry under-deck. Done from above.

A patented above-joist drainage flange that sits BETWEEN your deck boards, channels every drop of rain and snowmelt off the deck before it can hit the joists, and turns the space underneath into dry, usable patio. Profile-engineered for the deck board brand you're putting on top — Trex, Fiberon, Deckorators MBC + WBC. We stock the full Dexerdry lineup in Saskatoon and Regina.

The Dexerdry profile lineup

One system. Profile-matched per decking brand. One above-joist install.

Dexerdry tools a separate flange profile for each compatible decking brand's groove geometry. Order by your decking-brand chemistry — Trex, Fiberon, Deckorators MBC, or Deckorators WBC — and the right roll comes out.

Most ordered

Dexerdry for Trex

Engineered for Trex grooves. Sits between every Trex composite board to catch and channel water off-deck.

The Dexerdry profile cut for Trex composite is the most-ordered SKU we stock. The flange tucks into the side groove of every Trex board, the gutter spans the joist bay, and the pitch (1/8" per foot, set at the framing stage) carries water to the deck edge. Available as a 240-foot roll for whole-deck builds or per-linear-foot for top-ups and patches. Pairs with every Trex tier we carry — Transcend, Enhance Naturals, and Refuge.

“If you're building with Trex and want a dry second patio underneath, Dexerdry is the cleanest install. You're already pulling boards together with the hidden clip — Dexerdry slides into the same operation. One tool, one pass, dry deck.”

Dexerdry for Fiberon

Cut for Fiberon's groove geometry. Same drainage system, profile-matched to your Fiberon boards.

Each composite brand's groove is slightly different — Dexerdry tools a separate profile for each, so the flange seats fully and the seal holds. The Fiberon profile pairs with every Fiberon line we stock (GoodLife, Sanctuary). Available as 240-foot rolls for production builds or per-linear-foot for repairs and additions. The drainage performance, warranty, and install method are identical across profiles — only the flange shape changes.

Two profiles

Dexerdry for Deckorators (MBC + WBC)

Two profiles for Deckorators — MBC for Vault and Voyage, WBC for Vista. Match yours, then order.

Deckorators sells two distinct board chemistries with different groove geometries: MBC (mineral-based composite — Vault, Voyage) and WBC (wood-based composite — Vista). Dexerdry has tooled a profile for each, so the flange seats correctly regardless of which Deckorators tier you've specified. Order by board chemistry, not by colour or tier — both 240-foot roll and per-linear-foot formats are stocked at TUDS for both profiles.

Dexerdry BlueClaw compression installation tool — field-proven hand tool for setting consistent flange compression during deck install

BlueClaw Compression Tool

The vendor-built compression tool. The cleanest way to set consistent flange-to-board pressure during install.

BlueClaw is Dexerdry's purpose-built install tool. It applies the consistent compression Dexerdry's flange needs to seat fully into the board groove — without it, you're either under-compressing (which leaves the seal incomplete) or over-stressing the flange. Field-tested. One tool covers a full deck install. Optional but strongly recommended on any first-time Dexerdry build, especially DIY. “If it's your first Dexerdry install, the BlueClaw is the one accessory I'd push you toward. The flange has to compress just right — too loose, water tracks past it; too tight, you stress the plastic. The tool removes that variable.”

Dexerdry vs Trex RainEscape — which fits your project?

Joist spacing, build vs retrofit, top-side vs underside install, decking brand. Four questions, one honest recommendation. We stock both — the answer is about your deck, not our inventory.

Question 1 of 4

What's your joist spacing?

If you walked into TUDS

The three questions we get on Dexerdry — and what we'd actually say.

"Dexerdry vs Trex RainEscape — what's the actual difference?"
Shane · Co-owner
Shane · Co-owner

Where the system lives. Dexerdry is ABOVE the joists — a flanged gutter that tucks into the side groove of each deck board, installed top-side as the boards go down. Trex RainEscape is BELOW the joists — a stapled membrane between the joists, installed top-down before boards go on, but living under the deck. Same end result (dry under-deck space), different install operation, different compatibility envelope. Dexerdry is profile-matched to specific decking brands; RainEscape is brand-agnostic. We stock both — pick by decking brand, framing spec, and which install you'd rather do.

"Can I retrofit Dexerdry on an existing deck?"
Wade · Co-owner
Wade · Co-owner

Yes — if the boards are coming up. Dexerdry installs from above, sliding the flange into each board's side groove, so the boards have to come off (or not be on yet). The right retrofit moment is when you're refinishing, replacing, or adding to an existing composite deck. If your boards are staying down, Dexerdry isn't the system — look at RainEscape if the framing fits, or under-deck ceiling panels (ZipUp) as the third option.

"Will Dexerdry hold up to Saskatchewan winters?"
Shane · Co-owner
Shane · Co-owner

The thermoplastic Dexerdry uses is rated -40°F to 375°F — that's an automotive-grade material, the same chemistry family that survives a Saskatchewan car parked outside year-round. The Prairie freeze-thaw cycle and the snowmelt loads we get aren't a problem for the flange material itself. The bigger consideration on Prairie installs is making sure the deck pitch (1/8" per foot, set at the framing stage) actually carries water off the deck before it can pond and freeze — same as any drainage system.

Scope: Dexerdry (above-joist) vs Trex RainEscape (below-joist drainage) vs ZipUp (below-joist ceiling panels) vs no system. All three drainage approaches turn the under-deck space dry; ZipUp adds a finished-ceiling look. Pick by decking brand, framing spec, and whether boards are on or off.

FAQ

Will it fit, will it last, will TUDS have it — before the quote.

Don't see yours? Call either store and one of our Escape Artists will help.

Where the system lives. Dexerdry sits ABOVE the joists, between every deck board, with a flange tucked into the board's side groove. Trex RainEscape sits BELOW the joists, with a membrane stretched between the joists. Both turn the under-deck space dry. Dexerdry is profile-matched to specific decking brands (Trex, Fiberon, Deckorators MBC + WBC). RainEscape is brand-agnostic but capped at 12" or 16" O.C. joist spacing. Dexerdry handles 24" O.C. — which matters on Deckorators MBC framing specs. We stock both at our Saskatoon and Regina yards.

Yes, but the boards have to come up. Dexerdry installs top-down — the flange tucks into the side groove of each board, which means the boards either aren't on yet or are coming off for the install. The practical retrofit moment is when you're refinishing or replacing the deck surface anyway. If your boards are staying down, Dexerdry isn't the right system — under-deck ceiling panels (ZipUp) are.

Yes — and this is one of the few above-joist drainage systems that does. 24" O.C. is a common framing spec on Deckorators MBC (mineral-based composite) builds because the boards span further. Dexerdry's flange-and-gutter geometry doesn't depend on a specific joist spacing the way Trex RainEscape troughs do (RainEscape is capped at 16" O.C.). For 24" O.C. framing, Dexerdry is usually the right answer.

Yes. The thermoplastic Dexerdry uses is automotive-grade — rated for -40°F to 375°F. Prairie freeze-thaw cycles and snowmelt loads aren't a problem for the flange material. The thing to plan for, on any drainage system, is making sure the deck pitch (Dexerdry calls for 1/8" per linear foot, set at the framing stage) actually carries water and meltwater off the deck before it can pond, freeze, or back up against the board edges.

25-year limited warranty per Dexerdry's official terms. The warranty assumes the system is installed per Dexerdry's installation guide — proper deck pitch, profile matched to the decking brand, flange seated to spec (the BlueClaw compression tool is field-tested to set this consistently). Dexerdry owns the warranty claim process; if a TUDS customer needs to start a claim, call either store and we'll walk you through what documentation Dexerdry will ask for and where to start on their warranty page.

DIY-friendly if you're comfortable installing the deck boards themselves. Dexerdry slides into the same operation as installing hidden clips — one flange per board edge, one tool pass to compress it. The vendor-built BlueClaw compression tool is the one accessory we'd recommend for first-time installers; it sets consistent flange compression so you're not guessing. If you'd rather have a pro do the deck plus drainage in one go, we'll connect you with a Prairie deck builder we trust.

Yes — Dexerdry profiles for Trex, Fiberon, Deckorators MBC (Vault, Voyage), and Deckorators WBC (Vista) are stocked at our Saskatoon and Regina yards as 240-foot rolls and per-linear-foot. Inventory rotates by season; call either showroom to confirm current stock on your specific decking-brand profile, or check the Dexerdry product page for live variants.

Dexerdry tools a separate profile for each compatible decking brand's groove geometry. The profiles TUDS stocks are: Trex (works across Transcend, Enhance Naturals, Refuge), Fiberon (GoodLife, Sanctuary), Deckorators MBC (Vault, Voyage), and Deckorators WBC (Vista). For Eva-Last, hardwoods, pressure-treated, or anything outside that list, Dexerdry doesn't have a matched profile — and Trex RainEscape (below-joist, brand-agnostic) is the alternative we stock. Don't try to use a non-matched profile; the flange won't seat and the seal won't hold.
