Meet the Trex family

Seven tiers. One brand. Every Canadian Trex tier available.

From entry-tier Enhance to flagship Lineage and luxury Signature, every Canadian Trex tier shares the same ~95%-recycled DNA — the difference is in the cap, the warranty, and the colour range. Enhance Basics and Naturals stocked at both yards; Select, Transcend, and Lineage order-to-project. Read each line before you shop.

Enhance Basics

Real Trex. Real inventory. Entry budget.

Enhance Basics is the Trex we keep on the shelf. Capped wood-composite with a 3-sided cap, straightforward palette of Prairie-friendly neutrals, 25-year residential warranty. The entry point for anyone who wants a capped composite with a real brand behind it and doesn't need picture-frame edges or premium grain depth. If the budget is the constraint, this is where Trex starts — and it's an honest 25 years.

Trex Enhance Naturals Toasted Sand composite decking with deeper grain — entry-tier upgrade for Prairie backyards
Entry Tier
Richer grain

Enhance Naturals

Deeper grain, richer colour variation — still the entry tier.

Enhance Naturals is the step up from Basics within the same entry tier — same capped wood-composite construction, same 25-year warranty, but a deeper grain pattern and richer colour range. The grain difference is visible from eye level; the extra spend (typically ~15% over Basics) is the smallest upgrade gap in the Trex lineup for the biggest visual return. Still in-stock territory at most TUDS locations.

Mid Tier
35-year warranty

Select

4-sided cap, picture-frame-ready edges, 35-year warranty.

Select 2.0 is the most significant mid-tier upgrade in the Trex lineup in years. Full 4-sided symmetrical cap means the board edge reads finished from every angle — picture-frame borders, stair fascia, open-to-sky bench tops all work cleanly. SunComfortable IR is now standard on all Select colours, making it the first non-flagship board to run cooler underfoot. Full 1" thickness throughout. 35-year residential + fade/stain warranty. WUI fire-compliance on select colours.

Transcend

The Trex most homeowners mean when they say "I want Trex."

Two colour collections — Earth Tones for muted Prairie palettes, Tropicals for warmer reds, ambers, and moody darks. Full-surround Trex Shield cap, deepest grain pattern in the non-Signature line, 50-year fade-and-stain warranty stacked on top of the structural warranty. The widest colour range in the Trex catalogue at the premium tier — and the tier most customers walk out with.

Trex Transcend Lineage SunComfortable composite decking on a south-facing Prairie deck — runs up to 35 degrees cooler than standard composite
Flagship Tier
Shane's pick

Transcend Lineage

A flagship board — priced like Transcend.

Lineage is how Trex answered the one real weakness of wood-flour composite: heat on dark colours. The SunComfortable cap reflects solar radiation so darker boards stay measurably cooler underfoot — up to 35°F cooler than standard composite. Same capped wood-composite construction, same install, same fasteners. Warranty jumps to 50 years — and at TUDS today, Lineage ships at the same price per board as Transcend Tropicals. Same spend, cooler surface, double the warranty.

Trex Signature Ocracoke photorealistic wood-look composite decking — the most realistic non-hardwood option Trex makes
Luxury Tier
Order-to-project

Signature

The most realistic wood-look composite Trex makes.

Signature is the most photorealistic wood-look board in the entire Trex catalogue — multi-layer grain with zero pattern repeat, depth that reads like real hardwood from a foot away. Where Transcend reads as premium composite, Signature reads as hardwood. Highest scratch resistance in the Trex catalogue. If you want the look of Ipé or exotic hardwood without the maintenance cycle, this is the one. Available to order — not a wait-three-months special, just not a shelf item at this price tier.

Trex Refuge

US-only line. Not currently distributed in Canada.

Refuge is Trex's first cellular-PVC board — Class A fire-rated, engineered for wildfire-exposure zones and projects where local fire codes require ignition-resistant decking. The product is currently distributed only in the United States and isn't available through Canadian Trex retail. If you have a specific fire-code project, our build team can help you understand what alternatives exist for Canadian deployments.

Which Trex tier is right for you?

What's the project budget?

If you walked into TUDS

Three questions we get at the Trex sample wall — and what we'd actually say.

"I want the one that's going to last. What's the answer?"

Transcend Lineage for most situations. Same price per board as Transcend Tropicals today, but you get the SunComfortable cap that runs up to 35°F cooler on dark colours and a 50-year fade/stain warranty. If your deck is south-facing or you're going dark, there's no reason not to step up to Lineage. If you want the absolute top, Signature is order-to-project — most photorealistic wood-look in the Trex catalogue. If Lineage feels heavy and you're cross-shopping brands, we also stock Eva-Last Apex PLUS and Deckorators Voyage at a similar tier.

Enhance Naturals. Same 25-year warranty and ~95%-recycled wood-composite construction as Basics, but the deeper grain reads like a mid-tier board from five feet away. ~15% more spend for the biggest visual return in the Trex lineup. Foggy Wharf and Toasted Sand are the colours people walk back to at the sample wall. If your budget is tighter still, Enhance Basics is the same warranty without the grain depth — and we stock it.

"South-facing deck — should I do Lineage or Transcend?"
Shane · Co-owner
Shane · Co-owner

Lineage. South-facing, dark colour, or pool-adjacent — the SunComfortable cap reflects solar radiation so the boards stay measurably cooler underfoot. At TUDS today Lineage ships at the same price per board as Transcend Tropicals, plus the warranty bumps to 50 years. Same spend, cooler surface, double the warranty. If the deck is shaded or you're choosing a lighter Tropicals colour like Island Mist, Transcend is fine — Lineage's heat-mitigation isn't doing as much work for you in shade.

FAQ

The questions we get — before the estimate.

Don't see yours? Call either store and one of our Escape Artists will help.

Yes. We're an authorized Canadian Trex dealer with real inventory in Regina and Saskatoon. The Canadian Trex catalogue is a curated subset of the US lineup — we only show what actually ships north of the border, and we keep full Enhance Basics + Naturals tiers in stock year-round.

Use the deck cost calculator above — it reads live Shopify variant prices, so the number you see is always current. Quick ranges: Enhance Basics is the Entry tier (~$9/sqft material), Select the Mid tier (~$20), Transcend and Lineage the Premium/Flagship pair (~$27), Signature the Luxury tier ($35–45 order-to-project). Total project cost also depends on framing, fasteners, trim, and labour — get an instant estimate for the full number, or read our Eva-Last vs Trex deep-dive if you're cross-shopping.

Yes, like all composite — but Trex Lineage's SunComfortable cap reflects solar radiation and runs up to 35°F cooler on dark colours than standard composite. That's the answer we usually give for pool decks and south-facing builds. On every tier, lighter colours run cooler than darker ones — same as wood, same as anything outside in Saskatchewan sun.

Enhance = entry-tier 3-sided cap (Basics is plain, Naturals adds richer grain). Select = mid-tier 4-sided cap + SunComfortable IR + 35-year warranty. Transcend = premium full-surround Trex Shield cap with the widest colour range + 50-year warranty. Lineage = Transcend + SunComfortable cooling + 50-year fade/stain, currently same price as Transcend Tropicals. Signature = luxury photorealistic grain that reads as hardwood (order-to-project). Refuge = cellular PVC for fire-code compliance (US-only — not currently distributed in Canada).

Yes. Capped composite resists moisture and doesn't rot. The thing that matters most on Prairie installs is following Trex's gapping chart — the gap widens as the temperature at install drops. Failure mode is almost always install timing, not the board. Our build team walks customers through cold-weather gapping before delivery so the deck doesn't pinch when the temperature swings 70°C between January and August.

Enhance Basics + Naturals: 25-year residential. Select: 35-year residential + 35-year fade/stain. Transcend, Lineage, Signature: 50-year residential + 50-year fade/stain. Refuge is US-only and not currently distributed in Canada. All tiers carry separate commercial limits. Warranties are prorated in later years. Trex owns the warranty claim process — TUDS helps explain and navigate, but we don't file claims on customers' behalf.

Partially. Residential warranties transfer once, within five years of original purchase. Commercial warranties transfer freely. Trex owns the claim process directly — we'll help you locate the documentation and point you at the right starting place on their warranty portal.

Approximately 95% recycled content: reclaimed wood fibre plus recycled plastic film. Trex diverts hundreds of millions of pounds of plastic from landfill every year. Refuge (new 2026) is the exception — it's cellular PVC, fully synthetic, with no wood fibre.

Pre-2013 Trex was uncapped and had real failure modes — mould, fading, swelling. Every Trex board sold today is capped composite (or in Refuge's case, full PVC). The brand you'll read bad reviews about in 2005–2012 articles isn't the brand you're buying in 2026.

16 inches on-centre for perpendicular residential installation is standard across every Trex line we stock. For 45-degree diagonal layouts or stair treads, tighten to 12 inches. Hidden-clip fastening is the standard install method — Trex Hideaway Universal works across all 7 tier lines. Our build team walks through framing before you place the order.
