Deckorators: stronger than wood, lighter than composite, smarter than both.

Deckorators built Surestone's mineral core to sit still under temperature swing. Saskatchewan delivers exactly that test: -42°C to +35°C, year after year. The result expands 35% less than standard wood-plastic composite, qualifies for ground-contact installs, and meets fire-rated requirements standard WPC can't. Stocked in Saskatoon and Regina.

Meet the Deckorators family

Three tiers. One mineral-core story. Built for Prairie freeze-thaw.

Venture is the entry capped composite we keep on the shelf. Summit and Voyage carry the Surestone mineral-based core — virtually zero moisture absorption, virtually zero thermal expansion. Read each line before you shop.

Venture

Real Deckorators capped composite. Three Prairie-friendly colours, in stock at both yards.

Venture is the Deckorators we keep on the shelf. Capped composite construction with the Deckorators cap quality you'd expect, three colours dialled for Prairie palettes, and a 25-year residential warranty. If the budget is the constraint and you want a brand your contractor already knows with real inventory at both stores, Venture is where Deckorators starts. Saltwater is the cool grey that moves fastest off our racks; Sandbar and Shoreline cover the warm-brown end of the palette.

“Venture is the tier we actually keep on the shelf at both stores. Same Deckorators name, same warranty backing, no frills. If budget is driving the call and you want a composite your contractor already knows how to install, this is where Deckorators starts. Saltwater moves fastest in Regina by a margin.”

Deckorators Summit Glacier mineral-based composite decking on a contemporary front-entry deck in Saskatchewan — modern grey palette, thermally stable
Mid Tier
Surestone MBC

Summit

Modern earth-grey palette. The Surestone story in mid-tier. Glacier, Boulder, Cliffside.

Summit is where Surestone — Deckorators' mineral-based composite — enters the mid-range. Three deliberate earth-grey colours built for contemporary Prairie architecture: steel-and-cedar homes, Hardie + metal cladding, the clean modern palettes that don't fit warm-brown decking. Same mineral-core engineering as Voyage but in a tighter, more modern colour range. 50-year structural warranty + 25-year fade/stain. The mid-tier answer when Surestone thermal stability is the spec and the Voyage price point is too far.

“Summit is the tier I put forward when someone's building a modern Prairie home and wants the Surestone freeze-thaw story without the Voyage price. Glacier is the colour — clean grey that photographs beautifully against black metal and cedar. Surestone's thermal stability in the mid tier is a spec nobody else in this price band can match.”

Voyage

Rated for ground and water contact. Six colours. Our top-selling Surestone tier.

Voyage is the answer to every "which composite handles Saskatchewan winters" question. Flagship Surestone — mineral-based composite core, virtually zero moisture absorption, virtually zero thermal expansion. Voyage carries warranted ratings for ground contact and water contact applications — uncommon in the composite category. Pool decks, hot-tub surrounds, grade-level installs — Voyage is rated for it. 50-year structural warranty + 25-year fade/stain. Six stocked colours at TUDS: Sedona and Costa are our best-sellers across both stores by a margin. And 34% more traction than leading composites — the traction story matters on wet Saskatchewan summers.

The three questions we get at the sample wall — and what we'd actually say.

"Why does TUDS lead with Deckorators when someone asks about freeze-thaw?"
Shane · Co-owner
Shane · Co-owner

Because Surestone is the honest answer to that question. Wood-flour composites — Trex, Fiberon, most of the mainstream brands — use wood fibre in the core. Wood fibre absorbs moisture. Moisture + Prairie freeze-thaw = expansion and contraction over 20 winters. Surestone's mineral core absorbs virtually none. It doesn't move the way wood-flour boards move. That's not marketing — it's the spec difference that actually matters in Saskatchewan.

"I want a deck around the pool — which tier?"
Shane · Co-owner
Shane · Co-owner

Voyage. It carries warranted ratings for ground contact and water contact applications — uncommon in the composite category, and the spec that puts Voyage first for pool decks, hot-tub surrounds, and grade-level builds. Surestone's mineral core absorbs virtually no moisture, so it doesn't move the way wood-flour boards do across Prairie freeze-thaw cycles. Add the 50-year structural warranty and 34% more traction than leading composites, and you've got the honest answer for any moisture-adjacent application. Start with Sedona or Costa — those are the colours that move fastest at both yards.

Shop Voyage
"What about Vista — is it still available?"
Wade · Co-owner
Wade · Co-owner

Vista is still in the Deckorators lineup — four colours (Driftwood, Ironwood, Silverwood, Dunewood). It's a traditional wood-plastic composite (WPC), not Surestone — same cap quality and 25-year warranty as Venture, designed to mimic exotic hardwood grain. We're not currently stocking Vista at either location. If Vista's colour palette is what you need, our build team can order it to your project. Talk to us at either store.

FAQ

The questions we get — before the estimate.

Don't see yours? Call either store and one of our Escape Artists will help.

Yes — and we'd tell you if it wasn't. Deckorators is the only composite we stock with a mineral-based core (Surestone), which is a different engineering approach from the wood-flour cores most competitors use. The mineral matrix absorbs virtually no moisture, which is the variable that drives cold-crack failure across Prairie freeze-thaw cycles. Voyage is also the only composite in its category rated for ground and water contact — uncommon in the category. Worth the flagship price for moisture-adjacent builds. If you're cross-shopping, we also stock Eva-Last, Trex, and Fiberon — every major composite brand under one roof.

Surestone is Deckorators' mineral-based composite (MBC) — a mineral-dense matrix core rather than wood fibre + plastic. Crushed limestone + polypropylene is the dominant chemistry. The mineral core absorbs virtually no moisture, which means virtually zero thermal expansion across Prairie freeze-thaw cycles. It's the engineering difference between Voyage/Summit and traditional capped composites. Venture is the entry tier and uses standard capped wood-composite (not Surestone).

Yes — and the Surestone tiers (Voyage and Summit) are the boards we point Prairie homeowners to first when freeze-thaw is the top concern. The mineral core absorbs virtually no moisture, so the boards run tight — no big seasonal gap, virtually no cold-crack risk. We've sold Surestone across Saskatchewan from -42°C winters to +35°C summers and never paid a thermal-expansion warranty claim on the boards. For Prairie winter performance, Surestone is among the safest bets in the capped composite category.

Voyage: 50-year structural + 25-year fade/stain residential. Summit: 25-year structural + 25-year fade/stain residential. Venture: 25-year structural + 25-year fade/stain residential. All tiers carry shorter commercial limits. Warranties are prorated in later years. See the warranty section above for the full breakdown, or jump to Deckorators' official warranty page for the full legal terms.

Use the deck cost calculator above — it reads live Shopify variant prices, so the number you see is always current. Quick ranges: Venture is the Entry tier (~$7–9/sqft material), Summit the Mid Surestone tier (~$19–22), and Voyage the Flagship Surestone (~$26–30). Total project cost also depends on framing, fasteners, trim, and labour — get an instant estimate for the full number.

Both use a Surestone mineral-based composite core. Voyage is the flagship — broadest colour range (6 stocked at TUDS), ground/water-contact rating, 34% more traction than leading composites. Summit is the mid-tier Surestone with a tighter modern palette (Glacier, Boulder, Cliffside) — built for contemporary Prairie architecture where the warm browns of Voyage don't fit. Same mineral-core engineering, different price point and colour story.

Yes — Voyage is the only composite in its class rated for ground contact and water contact applications. That's the spec that makes it our first recommendation for pool surrounds, hot-tub decks, and grade-level installs in Saskatchewan. The mineral core absorbs virtually no moisture, so it doesn't fail the way wood-flour boards do when they're in contact with water or wet ground.

Yes — we ship Deckorators LTL freight across Canada. Voyage and Venture are stocked at both yards, and Summit can be ordered in. Most of the country doesn't carry the full Surestone lineup at retail, so if you're in Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, or further east, TUDS is often your closest real supplier. Call either store for a freight quote on your specific address and board count.

Quick facts

Deckorators — what you actually need to know

  • Surestone mineral-based composite — not wood-fibre

Voyage and Summit use a mineral-matrix core instead of recycled wood. Virtually zero moisture absorption, virtually zero thermal expansion under -42°C to +35°C swings.

  • 35% less thermal expansion than standard WPC

Surestone boards sit still through Saskatchewan freeze-thaw — the mineral core doesn't absorb water like wood-fibre composites, so the gap spacing you set in May is the gap spacing you have in February.

  • Voyage rated for ground + water contact

Voyage carries warranted approval for fully-submerged installation — pool surrounds, hot-tub decks, low-elevation builds where wood-fibre composite isn't engineered to live.

  • 34% more traction wet and dry (AS/NZS 4586-2013)

Voyage and Summit pass independent traction testing at 34% above the leading wood-fibre composites. Real difference on a wet July deck or after early-fall frost.

  • 12 stocked colours across all three tiers

Venture (3: Saltwater, Sandbar, Shoreline) + Summit (3: Glacier, Boulder, Cliffside) + Voyage (6: Sedona, Costa, Sierra, Khaya, Tundra, Mesa) — the broadest mineral-composite palette TUDS stocks.

  • Voyage 50-yr structural / Summit + Venture 25-yr structural

Voyage carries 50-year structural + 25-year fade/stain on the Surestone mineral core. Summit and Venture both carry 25-year structural + 25-year fade/stain residential.
