Multi-brand aluminum railing dealer

The aluminum railing lineup, in one place.

Picket. Cable. Glass. LED. We carry them all. Vista, Regal Ideas, Fortress AL13 Home, and Hoft — four Canadian-engineered aluminum railing systems on the wall at TUDS Saskatoon and Regina. Walk all four side-by-side, hold the post against your siding, see the LEDs lit, and leave with a system that's stocked for the prairies. The railing is the line between your deck and the sky — every photo of your finished backyard is going to show it.

Meet the lineup

Four brands. Every aluminum railing system. Stocked for the prairies.

Each brand brings something different — Vista is the workhorse, Regal Ideas is the LED play, AL13 Home is the speed-of-install pick, Hoft is the privacy specialist. Read each before you spec, then walk all four in the showroom.

Vista Railings

The Prairie workhorse. Pre-assembled posts, three systems, stocked at depth.

Vista is the aluminum railing brand we stock the deepest. Textured Black picket packages from 4' to 8' runs at 36" and 42" heights are on the shelf at both stores. White is stocked too. Pre-assembled posts mean you're installing a finished system, not piecing components together on site — that matters whether you're DIY-ing the build or your contractor is billing by the hour. Three infill systems share the same powder-coated aluminum frame and 25-year warranty: picket (classic, most cost-effective), cable (contemporary, view-forward), and frameless glass (luxury, lakeside-grade). Engineered to the National Building Code, formulated for Prairie freeze-thaw and UV without the maintenance headache of painted steel or stained wood.

“Vista is the railing I spec first when someone walks in with a standard deck build. Pre-assembled posts install fast — that matters whether you're doing it yourself or paying a contractor by the hour. Textured Black works with everything: composite, cedar trim, brick. We've got 6-foot 42" packages on the shelf and they move every week of the season.”

LED-ready Tier
Plug-and-play LED post system

Regal Ideas

Canadian-made. The only plug-and-play LED post system on our floor.

Regal Ideas is built in Delta, BC and sold across North America — the brand most likely to be installed on a Prairie deck after Vista. Their headline differentiator is the LED post-cap system: pre-wired posts with low-voltage plug-and-play connectors, lit at night without a sparky. Full lineup at TUDS includes aluminum picket, glass-infill panels, and CrystalRail frameless glass. Lifetime structural warranty + 15-year finish warranty. Picket is on the shelf in Textured Black; CrystalRail and LED systems are available to order with build-team support on the spec. Best when you want lit railings that read "upgrade" the second guests walk onto the deck.

“Regal is the call when someone wants their deck to read "finished" the moment the sun goes down. The LED post-caps are plug-and-play — no electrician needed for the railing run, just an outdoor outlet and the included transformer. CrystalRail is also one of the cleanest frameless glass systems we stock. If you're picking between Vista and Regal, the LED option is what tips most people toward Regal.”

Fortress AL13 Home pre-welded aluminum picket rail panel in Black Sand — residential railing system stocked at TUDS Regina + Saskatoon
Pre-welded panels Tier

Fortress AL13 Home

Pre-welded panels. Faster installs. The contractor's pick.

Fortress AL13 Home is the residential line of the AL13 commercial railing system — same FortressLock powder coat, same structural integrity, dialled for Prairie homes. The differentiator: pre-welded panels. Posts and rails arrive as a finished panel ready to drop into post brackets, which cuts install time dramatically vs piece-by-piece systems. Picket and PureView (glass-infill) panels available, plus matching gates and post caps. TUDS stocks the residential AL13 Home line — we don't carry the full commercial AL13 catalogue. Best for projects where install speed matters: contractor-led builds, homeowners working tight weekend timelines, or any deck where the railing has to go up before the next inspection.

“AL13 Home is what most of our contractor crew specs when speed is the deciding factor. Panels show up welded — you set the post, drop the panel into the bracket, and the run is up. We've seen experienced installers do a 40-foot deck perimeter in an afternoon. The FortressLock finish is also one of the toughest powder coats on the market — survives prairie hailstorms.”

Hoft 8' aluminum privacy fence with composite board infill on a Saskatoon backyard deck — patented slide-in system, Canadian-made in Quebec
Privacy + Railing Tier
Patented slide-in · NEW 2026 solar caps

Hoft

Privacy walls, regular railing, fences — all on one patented slide-in post system.

Hoft is a Canadian manufacturer in Laval, Quebec — built around a patented 3" aluminum slide-in post system that handles three jobs on the same hardware platform: privacy walls (the primary use — full-height privacy for backyards, hot tub enclosures, side yards), regular-height deck railing (44" guard), and fences (property-line post-set systems). No nails or screws on the infill panels — posts go up, panels slide in, the whole run locks together.

The accessory ecosystem is what sets Hoft apart: composite deck-board infill in 4 wood-look colours (a low-cost alternative to using actual composite decking inside a fence or railing), glass gasket inserts that convert the post system into a frameless glass-infill railing or privacy wall, and NEW for 2026 — solar post cap lights designed for the Hoft post profile (also fit Fortress AL13 Home posts; solar-charged, no wiring runs needed). The brand to spec when the deck is on a small lot, the neighbours are close, or the railing has to do double-duty as a windbreak.

“Hoft is the call when the lot is small, the neighbours are close, or you've got a hot tub on the deck and you want to actually use it. The 8-foot privacy fence is what most people come in for; the 44-inch privacy rail with composite infill is the dark-horse pick for elevated decks where you want the railing AND the privacy in one piece. Patented slide-in means no fastener heads showing — the install is clean. New for 2026 — Hoft solar post cap lights. Solar-charged, no wiring runs, and the same caps actually fit Fortress AL13 Home posts too.”

The three questions we get at the railing wall — and what we'd actually say.

"Picket vs cable vs glass — which infill is best?"
Shane · Co-owner
Shane · Co-owner

Three things drive it: view, budget, and maintenance tolerance. Picket is the classic — most cost-effective, stocked deepest, works with every deck style, gives a sense of privacy without blocking light. Cable is the contemporary move — stainless steel cables let the view breathe through the railing, sightlines stay open. Glass is the premium call — frameless tempered glass panels are nearly invisible, ideal for lakeside or rooftop where the view is the whole point. Picket is nearly zero-maintenance, cable needs an occasional tension check, glass needs a wash a few times a season. Cross-shop the four hubs we carry — Vista, Regal Ideas, Fortress AL13 Home, and Hoft — to see how each handles the three infill types. Walking both stores and touching the systems usually makes the call obvious.

"What height railing do I need on a Saskatchewan deck — 36" or 42"?"
Wade · Co-owner
Wade · Co-owner

The National Building Code sets the standard. Decks 600mm (about 24") or less above grade need a 36" guard rail minimum. Decks more than 600mm above grade — most Prairie decks more than one step up — require 42". For pool surrounds, hot-tub platforms, or anywhere kids will be, 42" is the right call regardless. All four brands we carry stock both heights in the most popular finishes; check your specific deck height from grade and bring that number into the showroom — we'll confirm the code requirement and spec the right run for your project. "Pre-welded panels or site-assembled — which is better?"
Shane · Co-owner
Shane · Co-owner

Different trade-offs. Pre-welded (Fortress AL13 Home) ships as a finished panel — you set the post, drop the panel into the bracket, and the run is up. Faster install, but less flexibility on custom angles or odd run lengths. Site-assembled (Vista, Regal Ideas, Hoft) means you cut the rail to length on site — more flexible for stairs, custom angles, or non-standard runs, but takes longer. Rule of thumb: standard rectangular deck = pre-welded saves time. Stair sections, complex grade changes, or custom geometry = site-assembled is the right call. If you're hiring a contractor and they bill hourly, pre-welded saves you on labour. See AL13 Home for pre-welded; Vista for the most flexible site-assembled lineup.

Aluminum railing system pricing

Most railing systems in the prairies land in this range.

Railing isn't a single SKU — the price-per-foot you see on a picket pack doesn't include posts, top + bottom rail, caps, or base plates. The number that matters is the full system, and it depends on post spacing, infill choice, and corners.

Aluminum picket railing ~$95-$140 / lin ft
Aluminum + glass infill ~$155-$245 / lin ft
Cable + aluminum frame ~$185-$285 / lin ft
Composite + aluminum frame ~$135-$210 / lin ft

Ranges are materials only, full system — posts (every 6-8 ft), top + bottom rail, infill, post caps, base plates. Stair runs, custom angles, and gate frames push toward the high end.

Material only. Posts, gates, and stair sections quoted separately. Get an instant estimate for a real number on your specific run.

FAQ

The questions we get — before the estimate.

Don't see yours? Call either store and one of our Escape Artists will help.

It depends on the view, the budget, and how much maintenance you'll do. Picket is the classic, most cost-effective infill — works with every deck style, gives a sense of privacy without blocking light, and is the easiest to source in stock. Cable is the contemporary upgrade — stainless steel cables let sightlines breathe through the railing, ideal when the view is the point of the deck. Glass is the premium call — frameless tempered panels are nearly invisible, best for lakeside or elevated decks where the view is non-negotiable. Picket needs essentially zero maintenance, cable needs an occasional tension check, and glass needs a wash a few times a season to stay clear. We stock all three across Vista and Regal Ideas; Fortress AL13 Home covers picket and glass-infill.

The National Building Code of Canada (adopted across Saskatchewan) sets the standard. Decks 600mm (about 24") or less above grade require a 36" guard rail minimum. Decks more than 600mm above grade — most Prairie decks more than one step up — require 42". Maximum baluster spacing is 100mm (about 4") so a sphere of that diameter cannot pass through. Top rails must resist a 200-lb point load horizontally. All four brands we carry are engineered to meet or exceed these requirements at both 36" and 42" heights — but verify your specific local building department's permit requirements (Saskatoon, Regina, and rural municipalities sometimes layer additional requirements on top of NBC). Bring your deck dimensions into the showroom and we'll confirm the right spec.

Both work well in Saskatchewan; the trade-off is finish texture and colour range. Powder-coat is the standard for residential railing — every brand we carry uses powder-coat — and gives you the widest colour range (Textured Black through White, Bronze, Slate, Taupe). Modern UV-formulated powder-coats (Vista, FortressLock, Regal's finish) are engineered specifically for freeze-thaw cycling and Prairie UV without chalking, peeling, or requiring reapplication. Anodized aluminum is more common in commercial railing — chemically bonded finish, very durable, but limited colour range (mostly silver/bronze tones) and harder to colour-match to siding or composite decking. For a Prairie deck where colour matching matters, powder-coat is the right call. The 25-year and lifetime warranties on the brands we carry cover finish degradation.

Different trade-offs. Pre-welded panels (Fortress AL13 Home) ship as a finished panel — set the post, drop the panel into the bracket, and the run is up. Faster install, easier for first-time DIYers, but less flexibility on custom angles or non-standard run lengths. Site-assembled (Vista, Regal Ideas, Hoft) means you cut top and bottom rails to length on site, then attach pickets or cables individually — more flexible for stair sections, custom angles, and odd-shaped decks, but takes longer and asks more of the installer. Rule of thumb: standard rectangular deck DIY = pre-welded saves time and frustration. Stairs, multi-level decks, or custom angles = site-assembled (especially Vista's pre-assembled posts) is more forgiving.

Most full aluminum picket railing systems land around $95-$140 per linear foot for materials only (system pricing — posts, top + bottom rail, infill, post caps, base plates). Glass-infill systems run $155-$245/lin ft, cable $185-$285/lin ft, composite-infill privacy panels $135-$210/lin ft. Stair runs, custom angles, and gates push toward the high end. Installation is separate — TUDS doesn't run install crews ourselves, but we connect customers with qualified Prairie installers when needed. The TUDS estimator returns a full bill of materials with live pricing for your specific run length, post layout, and infill choice — usually inside an hour during business hours. Way better than the back-of-napkin number you'll get from a single SKU $/lf.

TUDS doesn't run our own install crews — we're a multi-brand dealer with two showrooms and a Prairie-wide delivery network. What we do is help customers DIY confidently (with detailed install guides, build-team support on the spec, and pre-assembled or pre-welded systems that lower the difficulty floor), or connect them with qualified Prairie installers we've worked with for years. Call either store and we'll put you in touch with an installer who's familiar with the brand you're buying. We deliver across Saskatchewan, into Alberta, and into Manitoba — call either yard for a freight quote on your address. Get an instant estimate and we'll factor in everything you need.
